“This lettering is all that’s left here, but originally, I’d covered every wall in the room. Because I was among the first to paint in this buildings, and because it wasn’t really known as a location in our world, my work didn’t get painted over by other artists. So I wanted to use the location to create a sort of museum, where people could stroll from room to room, discovering new paintings. It was like a studio for me. I must have produced about a hundred pieces. I’d even set up a shooting gallery so as to get in some practice with a pellet gun. (Laughs)”

Arone

Arone is the founder of the TWE Crew, a collective of graffiti artists created in 1998 and bringing together various people associated with graffiti and street culture. Originally formed in Paris, today the group is present throughout France, particularly in Paris and its suburbs and the “PACA” (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur) and Aquitaine regions. Arone covers every aspect of graffiti, legal and illegal. No other artist, surely, has done so much painting in the buildings in Pantin, where he first made his mark in 2007 and which he now considers to be his studio.
