Da Cruz
Second Floor / Size 310 x 390 / Metal doorway/ Glycero paints and aerosols / 2012
“This doorway is my tribute to my father, who died a year earlier. It’s not as polished as I’d have liked because this was the final weekend when we were allowed to paint on the building under the auspices of the “Eté du Canal” summer festival. Hence the slogan “Inachevée comme la vie” (“Unfinished – like life”). There are also echoes of the death of the building, which was soon to be reborn in a different form.”

Dacruz started out in graffiti at the end of the 80s, but did not become prolific until the early 2000s. His style is easily identifiable and suggests a sort of universal language, one that brings together naïve and primitive worlds with the contemporary urban jungle. Concentrating on legal graffiti that frequently shades over into street art, he exhibits his work and takes part in numerous urban culture-related events. In 2012 he, Popof and Marko were given access to the Magasins Généraux building in Pantin and went on to paint the façade as part of the “Eté du Canal” summer festival.
