Second Floor / Walls / Glycero paints / 2012
“This corner of the building is one part of the project prepared by Popof, Marko and me. For our theme, we took the game of Tetris, (multiple coloured squares descending to pile up cumulatively), and this huge mask extending over three floors was my part of the puzzle. I chose this corner of the building because I didn’t want to let myself be pushed around by the geography of the location – I wanted to make use of it. With a creation of this kind, the challenge is to work with the scale of the building and maintain the perspective you need in order to see what you’re doing. I had to come down and step back a good hundred metres’ to see the effect my work was having. If you can manage that in 30 minutes a trip, you’re doing well (laughs).”

Da_Cruz
Dacruz started out in graffiti at the end of the 80s, but did not become prolific until the early 2000s. His style is easily identifiable and suggests a sort of universal language, one that brings together naïve and primitive worlds with the contemporary urban jungle. Concentrating on legal graffiti that frequently shades over into street art, he exhibits his work and takes part in numerous urban culture-related events. In 2012 he, Popof and Marko were given access to the Magasins Généraux building in Pantin and went on to paint the façade as part of the “Eté du Canal” summer festival.
