Gorey
Second Floor / Size : 300 x 360 cm / Metal Doorway/ Glycero paints and aerosols/ 2006
“I always enjoy seeing my graffiti art again. But for me, it’s all about action, being in the moment – that’s where true happiness lies. It’s during the process of execution that stories come to light – the improvisation at the heart of a controlled process, linked to the context, the medium or whoever is painting with you. This piece is not one of my favourites, because it doesn’t have a massive visual impact. But with hindsight, I can appreciate the risk-taking – the impulsive, experimental aspect. I have some really good memories of my years with Lek and Horphé, because they were always interested in pushing forward, in trying something new – and their acolytes would all get swept along in their wake.”

Gorey
Born in Paris in 1976, Gorey created his first tags in 1991. In 1993, while still finding his feet, he adopted his pseudonym, throwing himself into the full range of media: tags, chromes, throw-ups, graffiti, frescoes. Then, in 2000, he began to specialise in the creation of dynamic, original lettering that remained true to the precepts of 80s New York graffiti. He now lives in New York, where he is developing Woolf – a street wear brand distributed by Jackthreads.com. He is represented by the Klughaus gallery in New York, and also works in illustration and art direction.
