“When Marko93, Popof and Da Cruz invited me to paint on this building, I was in Paris to work on a project with the Alliance Française de Rio. We paint together each time I visit Paris, and it’s always a pleasure to see them again. The Magasins Généraux building in Pantin struck me as an odd sort of location. It had plenty of paintings old and new, both on the exterior and inside it. It was quite an experience painting there. I did a classic piece of lettering that day, in my own style. I enjoy mixing different media and languages in my work, but sometimes it’s good to get back to tried and trusted approaches and just paint whatever you feel like painting – with love, and with pleasure.”

Marcelo Ment

Marcelo Ment was born in Brazil in 1977. A self-taught artist, illustrator and arts educator, Ment was a pioneer in the street art scene back in his home town of Rio de Janeiro. Since 1998, he has been getting involved in a variety of projects and events related to graffiti and street art, a discipline he sees as a positive activity, and one that is extremely suitable for introducing to young persons from disadvantaged backgrounds.
